Chameleon/Ninja Shrimp

Chameleon Shrimp, also known as Ninja Shrimp, are one of the most unique freshwater shrimp available. Unlike selectively bred ornamental shrimp, each individual displays its own combination of colours and patterns, which can change over time depending on age, environment, diet, and mood. No two shrimp are exactly alike, making every specimen truly unique.

These peaceful shrimp are excellent algae grazers and spend most of their day feeding on biofilm, algae, and organic matter. They are best suited to mature, well-established aquariums with plenty of natural grazing surfaces.

Recommended Tank Setup

• Filter: Sponge filter or gentle filtration.
• Substrate: Sand or inert aquarium substrate.
• Water: Dechlorinated freshwater.
• Decor: Live plants, moss, driftwood, rocks, leaf litter, and plenty of hiding places.

Feeding

While they naturally graze on algae and biofilm, Chameleon Shrimp should also be offered a varied diet including quality shrimp foods, algae wafers, sinking pellets, blanched vegetables, and occasional protein-rich foods.

Compatibility

Chameleon Shrimp are peaceful and do well with other non-aggressive freshwater fish and invertebrates. They are best kept with small community fish and should not be housed with large or predatory species.
