Crypt Parva

Cryptocoryne Parva is one of the smallest and most popular foreground plants in the aquarium hobby, ideal for creating a natural carpet effect in planted tanks. Unlike other Cryptocoryne species, it remains compact and low-growing, typically reaching only 3–6 cm in height, making it perfect for nano aquariums and detailed aquascapes.

It features short, narrow, deep green leaves that form a dense and tidy carpet over time. Although it is a slow-growing plant, it is very hardy once established and requires minimal trimming, making it a great choice for both beginners and experienced aquascapers.

Crypt Parva grows best in a nutrient-rich substrate and under low to medium lighting. While CO₂ supplementation is not required, it can significantly speed up growth and help achieve a fuller carpet more quickly. The plant spreads gradually through runners, allowing it to fill in the foreground naturally.

Like most Cryptocoryne species, it may experience initial “crypt melt” when introduced to a new aquarium, but it typically recovers and regrows once it adapts to the tank conditions.

Cryptocoryne Parva is especially well-suited for shrimp tanks, nano setups, and low-tech aquariums, offering a clean, natural foreground without the need for constant maintenance.
