Tissue Culture - Micranthemum Monte Carlo

Micranthemum 'Monte Carlo' is a stunning groundcover plant that adds a touch of elegance to any aquarium. With its vibrant bright green round leaves and creeping growth pattern, it serves as an exceptional carpeting plant, enhancing the visual depth of aquatic landscapes of all sizes.

Compared to its counterpart Hemianthus callitrichoides 'HC', Monte Carlo is known for its ease of maintenance. It thrives with less light and has been successfully cultivated by hobbyists even without CO2 injection, although for optimal results, CO2 injection is recommended for achieving a lush, cushion-like carpet.

What sets our Tissue Culture Micranthemum Monte Carlo apart is its sterile growth conditions, ensuring it is free from pests, algae, and pathogens. The convenient packaging allows for easy preparation – simply rinse off the nutrient medium gel, divide the plants, and plant them in the aquarium. These tissue culture plants can be stored in their sealed containers for extended periods before planting, though using them promptly will ensure their optimal health.

For best results, store the plants in a cool place away from bright light until ready for use.

Very generous quantities (yes, multiple orders placed) although it was obvious there was less stock available with later purchases, but I've learned to keep a few shoots aside to propagate in a takeaway container (which is easy enough to do thanks to the very healthy cultures). I had people complain that MC "grows up and gets spindly" but I counter this by breaking down lumpy chunks into single shoots and planting them .5cm -ish apart, in low traffic areas. I don't necessarily wash off all of the gel, as it helps with initial anchoring, which is needed since it takes a handful of weeks to take root, bulk up and spread ...
At any rate, the price is MORE than reasonable and is def giving me the carpet I was after.

Love love LOVE this transaction. An abundance of Monte Carlo that was planted in clumps, small groupings and singles; all are still thriving and already developing quite happily alongside already established plants and scape despite intense fish and shrimp browsing (I protected singles from plecos by using temporary rockpiles). Reordering for other projects.
